Shift change (team changeover)

What is a team shift change?

A shift change is the moment when one team takes over the post from another at a change of hours — typically in a rotating three-shift setup, in hospitals, or in food service — with the transfer of the information needed to keep the service running.

This pivotal moment is both operational (who takes over what) and informational (what needs to be known about the previous period). Its quality depends directly on the quality of the handover of instructions that accompanies it.
