What is a care protocol?
A care protocol is a written, dated, and signed document that describes the course of action for a given care situation: it standardizes practices, secures procedures, and serves as a reference for the care team.
In France, article R4311-7 of the Public Health Code (from the decree of July 29, 2004) allows a nurse, in particular, to perform certain acts under a written protocol — qualitative and quantitative — established in advance. The Haute Autorité de santé (HAS) sets out the good practices.
